Challenge: Test custom electronic equipment over a large geographical area (25+ square miles).
Solution: Transmits data wirelessly to a centralized database for analysis & storage.

  • Forty (40) field rugged Data Collection Units (DCUs) for simultaneous data acquisition.
  • DCUs collects the following types of data:
    • Analog
    • Digital
    • Serial
    • Counter/Timer
  • DCUs send data to Access Points (APs) via 802.11g wireless communications.
  • APs send data to Control Room via LOEA radios communication at 1 GB/s.
  • PXI instruments monitor AP health by reporting:
    • Temperature
    • Critical Voltages
    • Real-Time Video (with remote controlled camera)
  • Data is stored in an SQL database
  • Data is analyzed utilizing a custom LabVIEW application.

  • NTS developed a cost effective, portable system to record data in the field and be able to play them back in the laboratory for simulated testing
  • Applications have ranged from recording and playback of RF, satellite radio signals, explosives data, UAV telemetry to video

Solution: Designed, developed and conducted the on-site testing with high bandwidth Gage digitizers integrated into a multiple channel system utilizing National Instruments LabVIEW

PES 2002 SequencerChallenge: Develop a means to control events and acquire data over a large geographical area with a low synchronization resolution

Solution: Designed, developed and delivered many variations of an event sequencing system utilizing a National Instruments LabVIEW software application and PXI instruments

  • Captures and generates TTL-level events, with a resolution of less than 1.0 microsecond
  • A GPS receiver allows the system to synchronize input/output events to the actual UTC time-of-day
  • Multiple systems provide users with the capability of generating synchronized events over extremely large geographical areas
  • Can be used for a wide range of explosives related, launch and test range sequencing applications
